Remember when I was doing monthly goal check-ins? Well, that didn't quite work out. Here's one last update before the end of the year, though.
Creativity
These goals were weird. I had big aspirations for getting a lot of fic writing done, and that did not happen at all. I wrote one new fic this year, Five Times Te'ijal and Galahad Tried to Get Divorced. I'm also cleaning up a rough draft of a collaborative Saw fic I've been working on with Danny, but I didn't account for writing anything other than Aveyond in my bingo plans.
However, I got into a really good rhythm for game dev, and I drew a ton.
But you can't really tell that from looking at my art bingo, either, because what I ended up drawing was very different from what my original goals were. I participated in ArtFight for the first time and had a ball, and drew more art in a month than I have since I got my hand injury. Then Umineko brainworms hit me hard and I drew a lot of Beatrice and Battler fanart, when I'd only given myself one real expectation for Umineko art.
Game dev has gone extremely well, although at a slower pace than I'd originally envisioned. The whole team needs to give Inn Need one more look over, and then it's done, and I'm working hard on maintaining my momentum with away in the woods.
I really like the bingo method in theory, but in practice this didn't work out for me. I think next year, I'd like to combine them into one bingo board that includes some art ideas, some fic ideas, some game dev milestones, and maybe some other things, too, like a fanmix or website updates. Using one as a guide of my creative goals for the year inside a mix of legitimate goals and general ideas that would be fun seems more practical going forward.
Media
My media goals have been going quite well. Danny and I are now on Episode 7 of Umineko. It is absolutely wild to be nearing the end of this story, even though of course having two episodes left means we have a lot to go. I'm working on playing a few more RPG Maker games, and earlier this year I went on an absolute tear and played a bunch of what I'd bookmarked on itch.io. Finally, I've read 31 books when my goal was 20, so that's pretty good. Only 8 of them were from my TBR, but... you win some you lose some.
Cooking
I'm going to be fully honest, I've given up on these goals. It's been too much to keep up with on top of school and surgery, so maybe I'll revisit them next year, when I'm graduated.
