Game Dev

I first started with RPG Maker XP when I was about eleven years old. Game development has been one of my favorite hobbies since! I first released games under the username Pumpkin Snake Games or thepumpkinsnake (admittedly, not that I've made many), but I'm currently shifting to the name Lavender Mocha Games. I'm also 1/3 of Studio Overdoing It (As Usual), a collaborative project with my friends Tei and Ji.

away in the woods

Digital artwork of blue-green mountains in the distance, surrounded by a rich green forest in the foreground. The text reads away in the woods in white.

away in the woods was the game I was working on before Inn Need, and that I will get back to once Inn Need is officially, fully done! It's an aromantic love letter to the future I wanted as a kid: a happy, isolated life, alone and tucked away in the woods. It's my thank you to all the media that let me envision that for myself, namely, the Hermit ending of Aveyond 1: Rhen's Quest, the poem "If No One Ever Marries Me" by Laurence Alma-Tadema, and every old lady NPC in an RPG I've ever encountered tucked away in the woods.

away in the woods is a non-combat RPG based on exploration, item collection, and sidequests. All of its content will not be able to be accessed in a single playthrough, but each playthrough should only take around 30-40 minutes. Exploring everything the game has to offer should take about 3-4 hours. There are five endings, each a different reputation the woman can obtain at the end of her life.

Inn Need

There was once a marvelous hotel in the town of Queen’s Horizon. Each room had a different theme, every stay was an adventure. But as the Silver Willow Inn passed from owner to owner, it fell into disrepair more and more.

The new owner, Hestia Kindlee, is determined to rejuvenate the inn that she remembers from her childhood! And no leaky pipes, cobwebby cellars, or haunted hotel rooms are going to stop her! Explore the old inn, fix what you can, find help for what you can’t, and restore the inn to its former glory.

Inn Need is a non-combat RPG Maker XP game made by Studio Overdoing It (As Usual) for IGMC 2022! You can download Build A for free from itch.io. The team is currently working on Build B, which will have additional content and polish!

seaglass

A pixel screenshot of Eliot, a young person with dark red-brown hair and light brown skin, standing in front of the ocean. A message in a bottle floats in the water in front of them. It says seaglass on it.

Eliot has never met their closest friend, Loren, in person before. The two have conversed exclusively through messages in bottles tossed back and forth at sea. After seven years, Loren is coming to visit Eliot, and they want to commemorate the occasion with a special and suitable gift. They decide on a seaglass necklace, and it’s up to the player to obtain it!

seaglass is the first game I finished. It's a short, non-combat RPG Maker XP game about love and gestures of affection, focused on item collection.
